Diet and nutrition play a HUGE role in preparing your body to carry a baby. Your body needs the right amount of vitamins, fat, and protein, in order to function efficiently and be able to help your baby grow healthy and strong.

Another major component to your Diet, and how it affects Fertility are Antioxidants. Any woman thinking of getting pregnant, or trying to get pregnant should be taking the following:

Vitamin E
Lipoic Acid
COQ10
Vitamin C
Pycnogenol
Ginkgo Biloba

Recent studies have discovered there is a new source of a very powerful antioxidant in Acai Berries. Dr. Perricone has stated that the Acai Berry is the world’s #1 Superfood.

Acai berry fruit has been featured on Oprah, The Today Show, CBS Early Show, and in the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal.

Acai grows in the Amazon Rainforest. When Acai is picked, it is a delicate fruit that must be processed within 24 hours as it is highly perishable.

You CANNOT buy Acai as a whole fruit in North America. You can only get Acai in powder or pulp form. The best way to make acai powder is to freeze-dried the fruit. When done properly Acai can be turned into a powder that has all the nutritional power of fresh Acai.

If you want to learn more about the Acai berry and it’s antioxidant benefits, have a look at it’s website

Women are only fertile 6 days of every month; 5 days before ovulation, and 1 day after.

You need to have sex more than once per week or there is a good chance you are missing your window.

It is very simple to determine exactly when you are ovulating by keeping track (on a calendar) of:

your waking body temperature

cervical fluid characteristics

cervical information

Tools you will need for this:

a basal thermometer (a regular thermometer is not accurate enough) (get one here)

(If you dont have an eBay account you can register here)

a fertility chart (get it here)

Before you start trying to have a baby, or if you have been trying and have been unsuccessful, pay attention to the following 4 critical tips and ensure you’re following them:

Stop Taking the Birth Control Pill: This is kind of a no-brainer. Waituntill the end of the cycle, and dont take it any more. If you have a UID, have it removed. If you are/were on the Deep-Provera shot, you may have to wait up to 10 months before its completely out of your system.

Stop Smoking: Another seemingly obvious one, but you’d be surprised how many women continue to smoke despite failed conception attempts. The stress from the initial shock of quitting may impact your body’s ability to conceive, so don’t feel bad if it doesn’t happen right away. Expect 2 to 3 months before your body gets over it.

Reduce Stress: HUGE one right here! I believe this is ultimately 99% of the reason i was able to eventually conceive. I put SO MUCH pressure on myself, and when there was a brief break in the stress, thats when it happened for me.

Manage Weight: Get yourself to a “healthy” weight for your height and body type. Everyone’s different so you should speak to your doctor if you’re unsure. I wouldn’t necessarily follow the online BMI charts as there are many more factors involved in determining YOUR healthy weight that will get you ready to have a baby.

…is the number 1 question on the minds of the majority of 30+ year old women that do not have children.
It creeps into your head 50 times per hour. “Whats wrong with me?” “What did I do to cause this?” What if i can never have kids?” followed by guilt, sadness, feelings of inadequacy.

I know. Ive been there. But you know what? After 3+ years of fertility treatment, i am ecstatic to say that i now have 2 beautiful children; a girl (21 months) and a boy (9 months).

And guess what? It happened AFTER I stopped the fertility medication. I did it all natural (well, with some help from my herbalist). A lot of the reason why I couldn’t get pregnant was because I was thinking about it ALL THE TIME. My herbalist would tell me i need to relax.

Yea right. YOU relax!

I’m running out of time! but the truth is, when we stopped fertility drugs (our VISA Card didn’t have the room it needed for the next phase of treatment – the $10,000 IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) program, we had no choice but to stop. and this was the much needed ‘rest’ or relaxation our herbalist was talking about.

While we were in a position where we couldn’t do anything, it wasn’t on our minds as much. the pressure of the $3000 monthly fertility drugs HAVING to work this month was not burdening us. It was actually during this time that i switch jobs – to one closer to home, and less stressful. one where i could wear track pants to work (lululemons ).

I left my office job, and worked in Administration at a personal training studio. After 4 months of stopping the fertility treatment, I was on my way to the gym with my husband one day, and started to feel weird. We actually stopped at the Shoppers Drug Mart on the way to the gym and picked up a pregnancy test. I took the test in the washroom at the gym and it said I WAS PREGNANT!. I ran out to tell my husband, and we obviously didn’t stay at the gym and train (LOL). We went home right away to relax/celebrate.

In a nutshell, this is my story. I will continue to post details, as many of you will likely have questions or want more information.

I am in the process of having my fertility treatment centre (Newlife Fertility) in Mississauga, pull and send me my file. I will be posting scans and screenshots of some of my documents so you can really relate to my story.

I really hope this can serve as inspiration for you to keep trying and never give up. God works in mysterious ways. I hadn’t gotten a period in 4 years, when I “passed” the pregnancy test. it was physically impossible for my body to conceive, yet I did.

Hang in there!!!

Researchers from the National Institutes of Health and other institutions have identified in mice two proteins essential for ovulation to take place. The finding has implications for treating infertility resulting from a failure of ovulation to occur as well as for developing new means to prevent pregnancy by preventing the release of the egg. The proteins, called ERK1 and ERK2, appear to bring about the maturation and release of the egg.
